A collaboration between Devon County Council, SeeAbility, Exeter City Council and Signpost Care Partnerships has resulted in the creation of a shared-home ownership scheme for people with visual or learning disabilities in Exeter in Devon.

The occupants of 8 self-contained apartments in Willow Way have been able to buy a half share in their property and pay rent on the remaining share.

The scheme allows residents to gain more independence. It also provides an alternative way to take the first step on the property ladder because they can 'staircase', meaning that they can buy further shares in their properties as and when they can afford it.
